Help treating pitted anodized aluminum

I just bought a boat that has a T-top, and a leaning post. They both have pitted areas that I would like to reduce as much as possible. Any ideas that would do this, and maybe bring a shine along with it ?

Yeah, I`ll try the wool over the weekend. I think doing that, I want to use Bronze wool.
I`m not sure how much I can reduce the pitted areas with it though. I thought about using polishing compounds, but can be difficult trying to use a buffing wheel "around" 2" tubing.
Or fine wet sanding. going up in numbers.
