Question hydro foils

my 20 Ft. Sunbird 3.0l is a little slow getting on plane . I have heard a lot about the hydro foil that go on the outdrive .Are they a good thing or not worth the trouble?

From what I hear from those who have them, they work well on underpowered boats such as the one you describe. I've never had one ( I tend to overpower my boats) - but would spend the "less than $100" to find out - if I had planing issues. On the other hand, if I had access to more funds, I'd go with trim tabs on the transom, allowing me to trim the boat horizontally as well as vertically.

I've got one on my boat and it solved our planing issue. Ours is an outboard with no power trim or anything (85hp on 15' boat) but I guess it is the same thing / principle. There is my $.02
