Water in the oil

I have a 1972 Trisonic boat with a 165 hp Mercruiser engine. I have noticed when I check the oil, it has some water in the crankcase. This problem is getting worse. What is the problem, and what can I do about it?

Often is the result of a blown head gasket. Start with a compression test. Do get it fixed. water displaces oil and it is a poor lubricant.

Could also be rain getting in through the carb, but my gut feeling is a bad exhaust manifold.
