hello "40 hp Johnson loss of power."

hi i got a 70 johnson motor it has lost power and it only puts along if you tri and give it more gas it just revs and go no faster heaps of water is coming out of two holes up the top of the lower part
any help would be great

Chris, Check the shear pin on the prop. Also check the adjustment on the shift linkage.

If the shear pin is okay... then it would sound as if the prop hub (a rubber spacing between the prop and the shaft) might be shot. It is almost impossible to tell by visual inspection - but if it is split, the prop will slip on the shaft when you give it gas - though seem snug when you check it manually....
