Engine Trouble

I"m New So I Hope I Did This Right. I Have An 83 Stingray Ski-boat W/ Gm 4-cyl I/o. We Have Checked All We Can. Has Fire. Is Getting Fuel. New Carb. Points Ok. Cap Ok. Wires Ok. Coil Ok. Cranks Fine, Won"t Start. Distributor Was Turned. Could It Be The Timing Chain? A Couple Of Times It Backfired Out Of The Carb [spark Arrestor]. I Sell Cars I Am Not A Mechanic/tech. I Would Sure Appreciate Any And All Help. Thanks, John.

What do you mean distributor was turned? Sounds like a timing issue.... which is typically around the distributor.... timing chains rarely move...
