1988 gtx aft most shaft bearing

this bearing is bad, do i remove the drive from the rear of the craft? will the shaft just pull out and leave the bearing exposed for me to replace? Please advice if you are familiar with this.

It's been a while since I worked on a jet pump - but used to race them in big boats and owned a few PWC's in my time. To access the rear bearings, typically, you have to remove the impeller bowl, which will provide access to both the rear bearings and the wear ring of the impeller (which should be replaced at the age of your unit). On a PWC, it gets pretty involved as the impeller bowl is inside the unit, often requiring complete removal of the engine and jet drive (very compact in there).
