Need info on Commander Marine Engines

Anyone know anythin about Commander Marine Engines? Ihave a 1990 SKi Supreme. I thought it had a GM 351 but it turns out it is a "Commander" 351. I can't find any info on the web. Would love to be able to find a repair manual. Any info would be helpful. Thanks.

I haven't delt with a comander engine. All "manufactures" weather it be volvo, mercruiser, or indmar do use either ford or chevy engines and add their parts. If the distributer is in the front of the engine as in by the pullies it's a ford 351. If it's in the back by the bell housing it's a chevy 350. If you can't find a manual for the comander a mercruiser will give you the basic info.

I hope that helps

Talkin' inboard engine, correct?

The Ford Commander 351 marine engine is 351 cu in and delivers 240 to 260 horsepower. Ford stopped making marine engines in 1996 which is probably why there's very little about them on the web. OMC used them in 1990 on their Cobra outdrives, and Seloc has a manual for the outdrive which includes all specs on the engine. The exhaust manifolds and cooling system are probably different, but the engine specs should be the same.

Chevy doesn't make a 351 block. They do make a 350 Vortec block that develops 351 horsepower, but that didn't come out until the late 90's.

Have you tried contacting Ski Supreme? Larson was very helpful in helping me find plans and manuals for my 1983 project boat.
