Engine issues....

I have a 2001 Glastron 175SX. It has a 3.0 Volvo Penta engine. The head is missing (loooong story) I need to get a new one. Is GM and Volvo interchangealbe? If I get a new whole engine can I get any 3.0 Volvo Marine engine block?

Thank you for your time.

Welcome to the board.

If the block and cylinders are fine I would buy a used head but make sure you have it checked by a machine shop. They tend to worp if overheated.

I'm not sure what years the head is interchangable, I thought all 3.0's were the same untill I ran into a problem with a customers used engine. I installed it without the starter then the next day he brought in a starter and it wouldn't fit without hitting the bell housing. I pulled the motor out and found it also had a smaller flex plate. We did some research and found the engine was older than he thought. I think it was pre 1984.
