25hp 1990 evinrude
I have a 1990 25hp evinrude, I took it out on the lake for my first run. I ran great wide open for 15 minutes. I powered down the engine stalled and the upper unit was filled with fuel. It took the better part of 20 minutes waiting for the engine to re-start. Afterwards it ran poorly and was sluggish. Getting up on plane it ran for a couple of minutes and stalled. Again the upper unit was filled with fuel leaking into the water. I was able to limp back to the launch. Have not taken it out since.
Any suggestions?
Thanks Gregg

I'm betting the neadle isn't stoping the fuel from entering the float bowl. Pump the primer bulb and look down the trought of the carb I bet you will see fuel coming up through the jets. It's a simple carb to rebuild and a omc carb kit comes with a new neadle, seat, float and all needed gaskets.
good luck
