Have new (this year)30-hp outboard on small pontoon boat. How/what do I adjust for it to be in neutral when it is supposed to be? Starts moving (reverse) before it's put into gear. (great to see this site!)

Hello OldGuy, I have to assume that we are talking about the remote control and not the handle on the engine itself. The cable has an adjustable barrel on its engine end sleeve. When the engine handle is shifted into Forward gear and the control is in forward the attaching sleeve should slip easily over the pin. You may have to move the prop a little to get it fully engaged. With Fwd adjusted correctly Neutral and Reverse will be too, due to the travel of the cable.
Remember to always remove the spark plug leads whenever you are working on a magneto style engine.
Just a good safety tip from me to you.
