Question

I have 1978 Garcia-Renegade, Fish n' Ski...

The metal transom sleeve has pulled loose from the transom. The previous owner used a silicon caulk to seal it but it has pulled free. What if any hazards am I faceing?
It has a 115HP Johnson mounted.

Thumbs up

Hi Doc,

You can get a replacement sleeve from most boat shops. The installation tool though
is going to be harder to find.
You need to remove the old sleeve then clean and dry the area in the transom. Next, using a good (5200 or silicone) sealant or putty
install the sleeve and "crimp it" over in the inside. A long threaded stock with a couple of beveled washers should do the trick
if you cant borrow the tool from your local shop. Please do this before the next trip out as you can take on a considerable amount of water in a very short time.
Keep Dry! Scott
