Replace Transom Seal

I have an '86 I/O Conroy with 3.0 OMC eng. I would like some info on replacing the transom seal. Main question is the alignment of drive shaft, and disconnecting the shifting cable. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks Roberk

That is a big Job. The engine and drive assy. has to come out. It will need to be re aligned when reinstalling. You can take the input shaft off the outdrive and use it to align, it should push in and come out with one hand.

Also check for any rot in the transom if it was leaking it's a good possibility the transom needs to be replaced.

The shift cable is under the plastic cover in the outdrive.
