Mercruiser Carb Replace/Rebuild?
I have a 228 Mercruiser (1979 Chevy 305 V8) that has a carb problem. The mechanic said the idle jets were not pumping, and that the boat idled by the throttle plate being partially open. t
his conclusion was "I need a new carb"
the carb is a mercruiser carb with a red metal tag that has the numbers MCM 1347-7361 stamped on it.
Does anyone know if a rebuild kit would repair this problem?
Is a kit available?
Any replacement carbs available?
Much thanks for any help

I work on outboards and volvo's mostly but I have rebuilt a couple 'cruiser carbs. Kit's are available and way cheaper than replacing even at our $119 labor rate.
I just checked and kit's are $29.99 and a new carb is $836.99, kit part # is 1397-823426.
