Replacing trailer skids

I have a broken carpet covered skid on my boat trailer and need to replace it. Is the blue indoor/outdoor carpet that you find at Home Depot and Lowes the correct type of carpet to use? I'm planning to replace both 8 foot skids using treated lumber. I read somewhere to use staples. Any other hints? Should I also use glue? If so, what kind? Thanks..... Sam

The cheap carpet will work. I glue with contact glue and staple them with a air powered stapler. Make sure you use stainless staples.
