changing fuel filters on a Yanmar diesel engine

Hello, I have 1971 boat wirh a 10 year old yanmar diesel engine, I had a tech last year change the filters for me but did not see him do it. Any know if I can fill the new filters with freah diesel and just screw them in with out bleeding air.
I had another boat with Perkin 6.354 diesels and had to open up the fuel lines to each injector when I did this. Not sure about this diesel
Thanks,
Rickey

I believe you have to bleed the air, but I can't say for sure. It can't hurt.
