Motorguide "energy" 54# trolling motor, need info

Is the Energy series a maximizer type motor? I'm looking at a used one that is 8-10 years old and supposably like new. If it's not a maximizer I'm not interested, I only have one battery and want the best use out of it. For $150 I may be interested.

We don't see enough Motorguides for me to know the models but usually any motor 55# and under are 12 volt.

One battery is 1/2 of the issue, mainly I want to know if this is as Minn Kota calls it... a "maximizer" which makes it much easier on the battery life.

As I read whatever I can find, I'm hearing that MG uses a metal shaft that is prone to damage. The Minn Kota motors have a composite shaft. I am also hearing rumors that the MG motors are noisy and some even say that they scare fish away (not sure about that one).
