Repower of 1979 century

I am replacing my worn out 305 chevy v8 (228 mercruiser setup) with a remanufactured engine by merc that delivers 310hp. I wonder if my old outdrive will handle this? the outdrive is a 1.5 ratio, with the top end a pre alpha, mated to an alpha 1 lower unit.

Also, if I found a Bravo 1 outdrive, would it just bolt up to my existing transom assembly and shift cables?

thanks

Ed

I would think your outdrive would hold up fine as long as your not beating on it.

The bravo uses a different gimble ring and tks assembly.
