Bad Battery?

I was sold a low end Exide marine battery in Jun-10 from the only boat/outdoor shop near my cabin. I spent three days charging the battery this Spring (after a MN winter) and could not get it to charge. I took it into an O'Reilly Auto Parts for a free test...and they said it was shot. I have checked the fluid and it is full.

I would assume this is not a common occurrence and I don't think I am overlooking anything since hooking up a battery to a charger is obviously pretty simple. Is Exide a poor brand? Any recommendations for a replacement? The only use of the battery is electric start and tilt/trim.

Hopefully that battery has more than an 11-month warranty. Can you take it back where you bought it?

I've been using Interstate marine batts for a number of years now with no trouble.
