1987 Johnson 15 HP

I haven't used this motor a lot and it has now been hanging in the garage for 7 years, son would like to get it going.

I'm sure I changed the lower unit oil after last use, other than that all I've done is put a little oil in each spark plug hole and crank it over once in a while.

Son mentioned I may have to check the rubber water pump impeller to make sure it isn't dry rotted. Not sure how to do that.

Other than new plugs and gas, anything else I should check before trying to get it going?

Thanks

Hope you got it running. You may want to keep an eye on all your gas lines from the carb to the tank. Older hoses sometimes split and leak when using gasoline with ethanol.

Not yet, weather turned a bit cool.

Found a video to change the impeller, shouldn't be a problem.

Took the cover off last night and took a peek at the carburetor, oh my. Looks like a real pain just to get it off let alone cleaning it. I might take it to the dealer for that, not sure.
