broken cable

lost fall when i went fishing one of my steeringcables broke my question is can i use the plasticcoated laundry line,which i have kicking around the shed.i have a 50hp mercury outboard.just trying to save some money.

Use regular boat steering cable, or you'll be sorry.

You might try the home member stores or hardware
for plastic coated steel line. It dosent have to be stainless and you can save a buck.
