Boat cabin door lock or locking device

We have this boat and the door lock has one those hook latch locks. On the door trim - left side - the latch plate for the hook to latch into is missing.

We can either try and fix the lock - get a new latch plate or I wanted to know if there is a extending bar lock I can buy that can span the width of the door and lock that way?

These boat door locks aren't very sturdy and worry someone could easily pop the door open with the stock locking mechanism so I'd like something more robust.

Yes, there are expanding/telescoping door locks. You didn't include the full doorway in your photo so we can't see where the other end of the bar will go. You'll just have to look at what locks are available and see if they will work for you.

I've usually modified something store bought or just fabricate something. Boats are such low volume and a wild variety of door styles it's doubtful someone makes a expanding lock.

In your case I might do something that pins into the side of the sliding door and frame. The pins in each end make it much harder to pry/slide out since you don't have a door jamb or seam for a traditional lock to slide into. It could use a standard padlock or you could build a shroud over the lock to make it more difficult to cut.

How is your door retained in the tracks? I'm curious how hard it would be for someone to just remove the door.

Not quite sure what you need.
Is the catch needed in the circled location ?
A stronger lock is nice to have but instead of them breaking the lock they'll just smash the door.
