I have a 1994 Volvo 4.3 l with a douprop outdrive. Recently I have had some slight problems with the trim. First, the gague stoped registering that the trim was lowered all the way. Trim motor went up/down, but gauge did not gregister past 1/2 down. The just last week the guage stopped working all together, but trim still goes up/down. What is troubling me is this, sometimes (1-2 times a day) when I am cruising and go to adjust the trim, the motor will stall out until I stop adjusting trim. IS this an electrical problem due to the guage, or a larger electrical problem?

Yes there is a problem on some models with the trim
shorting to ignition. this should be done by a dealer
with access to the updates from the factory.
On the gauge problem.. it could be just the sender or
rack, but could also be a lack of continuity or gauge
internal failure. You will need to have these checked with the proper test equipment.
You could first look at the rak on the protecting cover
on the outdrive to see if it is missing or broken.
