Old Boat - Salvage?

In college I purchased a small used 15' Hydrostream fiberglass speed boat with 115 hp merc (1974). We used it for a couple summers cruising and skiing but after college I was too busy during the summers and it sat. It's been sitting 8 years. My buddy is selling his cottage and has made me move my boat. I've had the engine checked out and it still has good pressure. But, the steering cable is frozen and someone stole the hydralic pump. The fiberglass isn't perfect. I still love the look of the boat.

What are my options?
-I tried donating it to 3 non-profit organizations but I was surprised nobody would take it
-put some $$$ in it to get it functional again, how much will it cost and would it be worth it
-junk the boat and keep the engine, and find a boat in better shape
-salvage it all

Let me know what you think.

If the boat has been sitting outside for a long time
you should have the transom and hull integrity
inspected before proceeding. The wood may be rotted
and it will not be worth fixing the engine and hydraulics.
Look up a marine surveyor, or call your insurance carriier
for a recommendation.
