- Although I have a degree in electrical engineering most of my DIY skills are self-taught. From my career experience in Facilities Management, I am familiar with all aspects of building construction and operation.
I have a basement workshop that includes a table saw, router table, wood lathe, drill press, band saw, sanding wheel, sanding table, planer, jointer, grinding wheel, scroll saw and dust collection system. Portable power tools include drills, circular saw, reciprocating saw, routers, biscuit joiner, palm and belt sanders. My wife says if I I don't have a tool that I need for a project I can buy one.
I have constructed Mission style furniture and cabinets in oak. I have recycled weathered redwood into furniture.
I completely finished the interior of a vacation home including walls, flooring, electrical, plumbing, radiant floor heating, kitchen and bath cabinetry and furniture, and constructed a 2 story deck on the exterior.
I have kept washers, dryers and dishwashers operating well beyond their anticipated life expectancies.
