carb joint connection - rubber grip dip repair ?????
I have a yamaha big bear 4 wheeler and the pipe (carb joint) that connects the carb to the cylinder is cracked, leaking air and obviously not running well.
I was going to get a new one but they are $ 100+.
A cycle repair shop told me I could try that rubber that you dip handles of tools in to get the grip rubberized.
Has anyone ever tried or heard of this.
Thanks for the advise.

That sounds like it's worth a try! I have never tried it, but I think it just may work. The stuff doesn't cost much, so you won't be out much if it doesn't. I don't know how tolerant the stuff is to gas though...you might test it out on something else first.

It will work, but the fuel may eventually attack it so I don't know how long it will last. You can stack the odds in your favor by making the part CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN before you apply it.

you can fix it
cut all the rubber away you will find one end will fit a 1 1/2 hose
the other can be turned down with ease by anyone with a lathe
take the two studs out of carb- counter sink these two holes in manifold
and put in two 6mm pan head screws and screw to carb
get 1 1/2 hose (rad hose will do) couple of big nylon ties and your in business i have done many of these it is not a big deal
forget the gook
