Rod cap hitting cam shaft

Rod cap hitting cam shaft

I have a 5hp Briggs gokart engine. I just go new rings and stuff for it. But today i was putting it all back together and the rod cap is hitting the cam shaft and i dont know why it is doing this. Please help me.

I'm not sure how you've got the rod cap hitting the camshaft. Tell us more. What kind of engine is it? You said it was a Briggs. Is it an overhead or side valve? You mentioned new rings and stuff. What is "stuff" did you get a new; connecting rod, cam shaft, crank...?

Do you have the rod/piston assembly installed 180 degrees off? If you removed the rod from the piston, did you reinstall it in the correct position to the piston?
