So far the frame weighs in at about 60lbs. I think it'll be less than 75lbs once all the bracing for suspension and gadgetry are added. The real weight is going to be in the brakes! The hub/spindle/rotor assembly weighs 45lbs! An easy 180lbs there. I was hoping to beat 500lbs dry, though...

Finnished the front end...after build and cutting it apart 7 times. Gave up on rigging a beautiful work of art and settled for simplistic and functional...I think it still looks pretty cool, though. Now I just have to figure the rear out.

HAd to stop there for a while...God reminded me what arc-eye feel's like...or I guess I did...

finished up the roll-cage and the steering tonight. The steering setup sucks...WAY too aggressive in the turning. I'll have to cut new holes in my steering head so the ties will hok up higher. Right now there's only about 90* from lock to lock in the steering...I'm lookiing for closer to 180*.

I also got upset trying to get the camber and toe matched to get some stabalyer bars in and, after 7 hours of trying, levelled it all and welded a piece of angle between the trailing arms. At least this way I would have to craft some clever rear end to accomidate the sprocketdrive and IRS.

....and the pisser....

No motor...just a rolling, suspended, braking chassis...520lbs. My rotors and spindles are about 150 of that...

Here's my temp donor bike:

She was free, has very little trouble (busted chain cover) and it'll be easy to move the mounts around later to suit a water-colled EFI setup.

Next on the list is a Yamaha XS650 powered kart similar, but smaller, to the one above. Then a smaller off-road kart using a Kohler 14.5hp engine and belt-driven gear box. Later, another 12.5hp briggs twin belt drive kart. Lastly, a 100cc mini-chopper I can't wait to get started on...

I'm not interested in it being road legal...I have lots of street-able toys. Plus, I'm not willing to submit to the lighting and clearance regulations required.
