99 Polaris 400

I am looking a a friends 99 Polaris 400 that smokes a lot. It starts fine but under throttle it puts outs out a lot of blue smoke in my opinion. I know it is a 2 stroke but I think it should burn cleaner then what it is. I have check the oil pump setting according to the manual and it was fine.
He has had in the shop twice for repairs on the engine but wasn't happy with the results.
I need to do a psi check on the oil valve but what else could be causing the blue smoke?

Thanks,
Bob

Update...White smoke

My eyes must be getting bad, it is more white smoke so I looked in the rad and found a lot bubbles when I started it so I will assume for now that it is a bad head gasket until I can pressure test it.
How tough is it to repair the head gaskets on these?

Thanks,
Bob

2-strokes are very easy. Recommend if you are going to tear it down that far to replace head gasket I would go ahead and rebuild top end, unless that was already part of work done. Make sure to get correct thickness of head gasket. Verify which side goes toward cylinder and whether gasket is self sealing or requires a sealer
