speed caculation
hi all anyone know how to caculate the speed on a gocart im useing a 40 series touque converter 12 teeth on jackshaft 72 on sprocket 24 inch wheels engine speed is 3500 rpm

You would have to know the tire size to establish the outside circumference of the tire.
Seriously, I would save my calculator and have someone drive a car along side. Your torque converter and how the power train is set up will affect the throughput gearing.

A bicycle speedometer is a good cheap way to add a speedo to a go cart. You can find them for $25 or less. You just attach a magnet to an axel or wheel where the sensor can see it go by and you program in your wheel circumference.
