1989 Honda ShadowVT1100

i havea great Bike runs perfect no complaints there. My problem is finding a gas tank that will fit this bike. The dealer wants over $800.00 fora new tank. I found one on line from a motorcycle salvage. but that tank was about as bad as the one I want to replace. My question is Can I alter a tank from a newer model VT1100 to fit? Has anyone ever done this? The Honda dealer says newer tank won't fit my bike but will not say whay it won't fit.

you can make anything fit, but what will it look like? you can just have yours fixed (they can fix any thing) now a day's . just ask around at shops and some one will seed ya to someone that can help

Ebay...

EBAY is always a great place to find parts like these. I found a least 2 tanks for the VT1100, not sure of your specifics, but one is going for 20 and the other 275. Search for "VT1100" and see what pops up.

Suzuki Carb Not Getting Fuel, Need Help

I am desperate for help with this, as I am writing from a small fishing lodge that is preparing for the summer season, and our one and only quad makes work around the camp so much easier. Every day without a working quad is misery! My quad is a Suzuki LTD4WD Quadrunner 1990 250cc. Problem started when throttle cable snapped at the carb, which we replaced no problem. After running a few mins, machine started to sputter and when we stopped it, wouldnt start again. (Before the problem it had seemed to not be running right, so we used it as little as possible) We examined the obvious easy stuff and found the fuel pump assembly had massive corrosion, so we replaced it, since the carbeurator was not getting any gas. After replacing the fuel pump, the carb still does not get gas....we have disconnected the hose going from fuel pump to carb to check, and nothing. All tubes are free of obstruction, fuel tank was drained completely and given fresh clean fuel. Leads us to think it may be a carb problem. The carb is in tricky spot, and I hope I dont have to remove it completely. Also, what should the needle screw be set at? Someone might have adjusted it in the past. Someone mentioned 1-1/2 to 2 turns back from snug is about where the needle screw should be, then tweak it from there. Please HELP! Hello everyone. I have a pressure washer unit with a Honda 6hp on it and a 2500psi crankshaft style Cat pump. It's the DX29 model. I need to know a couple things about how to plumb it correctly. First, it came with a chemical syphon hose barb fitting on it that I won't use alot. Can that remain open when not in use or should it be capped off or put a little ball valve on it? It looks like it would draw in air and cause problems if not closed off when not sucking in additives. All the ones on the show room at Northern have them but none have shutoffs. Store 'associates' where I live know nothing about that. Secondly, some pumps have a bypass type hose between the inlet and outlet for cooling. Again, no help at the store. I do have the temp relief valve. Is that sufficient or would the bypass be a better deal to protect the pump from overheating? Last..pump oil. Straight 30 non det, synthetic (Amzoil) or dedicated 'pump' oil? Which is best? I would like to get it right the first time. It doesn't take long to trash a pressure washer if it's wrong.
