kickstarter spring

I have a 2006 CRF250R. I replaced the clutch basket. The kickstarter will not come back up to the uprite position. My question is: when the spring is installed on the shaft, do I have to pre-load it one turn clockwise to make the kickstarter come back up?

A kickstarter spring is a little heavy to be doing that. Make sure you don't have the spring reversed or the kickstarter mounted on the wrong spleen.

When the starter has returned to its most upright position, is it soft in its position or is it solid and locked in place? If it's the latter I would say something is out of place.

Hope this helps,

Bob

kickstarter

Bob, I figured it out. the problem was that it was assembled, the gear in the back had to be lined up in a certain position. I connected the spring to the hole in the shaft at the 9 o-clock position, so i only had to move the portion of the spring that connected to the case about a quarter of a turn clockwise if that makes sence. It would be impossible to rotate the spring a full turn. Thank you for your response. out of all the sites I tried, you are the only response I had. Wish us luck at the Ponca Nationals! thanks again.
