Need help on my racing lawn mower

Yes, im getting into racing lawnmowers. :mask:
I am looking to change the pulleys but i have a problem.
i have the pulley on the motor and the pully on the tranny.
But, i have another pulley in the middle of the two so that the belt from the engine hooks to in and so does the one on the tranny.
Do i leave the middle pulley the same and change the front to big and back to small?
Thanks for the help.

What you're describing is a variable speed. Not the best choice for making a fast mower. First off, the vari-drive itself is fine for mowing, but will eat belts left and right if you over-drive it. Second the transaxle in your mower (assuming it's a single speed, not a dual range from a GT) is not a particularly strong transaxle when it comes to abuse. Another issue is the 20:1 reduction.

I'd suggest ditching the driveline you have now and replacing it with a Peerless manual shift transaxle. Even better would be to use a live axle and a Peerless transmission.

Just how fast do you want this thing to go?

Cool this might work

[put the small pully on the motor and the big pully on the tranny it should go pretty fast, faster than stock its probley cheaper than putting a manual shifter on it:

p.s a small engine guy told me this so maybe this will work for you bud

Smaller on the crank will slow it down, not speed it up.
As will larger on the transaxle.

Your "Small engine guy" ought to go back to school.
