Briggs not charging

Briggs not charging

I have a problem. My 11 Hp Briggs and Stratton isnt Charging the battery so i took the flywheel off and everything looked all right but the red and black wires must have been rubbing up against the flywheel and may have shorted out so i got my new generator and i just need to know how to wire it back up properly? thnaks

Hi Craftsman12Hp,

When you say Generator, you mean the Charging stator, right? Just so I'm not confused. If your new stator has black and red wires, then this is a Dual-Circuit stator. The red wire (with a diode hidden under black heatshrink) is the DC output, good for 3A (max) for Battery charging, and should go to where the red wire previously went. The Black wire is the AC lighting wire, good for 5A (max), and should follow the path of the original black wire.

Most of the time, these two wires were terminated with a 2-pin polarized connector, so connecting it to the system should be no problem. Hope this helps out.
