Question yamaha warrior battery recharge

I have a 2001 yamaha warrior 350 and I purchased a new fully charged battery the bike has clean battery connections although the battery does not recharge while in use ? I have ran the bike for about a hour continously and the battery is drained by the headlights. What charges the battery during useage.

It has a generator with a rectifier/regulator. The latter is more likely to go out.

Arrow

I opened up the crankcase on the pullcord side, after all the oil drained out there was a stator and pick up coil inside. How do I check to see which is the problem?

If it runs well, both of those are probably OK. The pickup is the signal for the CDi. The problem is probably the rectifier which is the regulator for the charging system or a connection/fuse.

Locate it and see if you're getting anything out of it with the engine running. It should be just under the seat. Looks like a little box with fins.
