arctic cat 400 4x4 quad issue need help

2003 arctic cat 400 4x4 atv has no spark

new stator 2 different cdi boxes

if i pull the coil wires off the harness and use a test light to roll over the engine when i touch the test light to the wihte wire it will arc with the key on, wont do it again until i shut the ignition off and turn it back on.
the light will also light when i roll the engine over with the test light on it.

What else can I check or look for?

Do you have the service manual for it?? I'm thinking they ask to test voltage to the coil.. At some wires the CDI or the stator can have over 300 volts... What procedure are you using?? You will probably need a voltmeter that will record peak voltage & the factory service manual for the bike... I trust you have tried a plug & a new plug cap??? The caps have a resistor in them & can give problems... Roger

How did you arrive at the point you are now? Did you have a running engine, then it quit w/no spark, then changed the stator and swap out a couple of identical boxes from running bikes - or is the scenario different?

Is there electric start/battery on it?

What happened was it was running and the flywheel magnets came apart. So i got a used flywheel, new stator. when it was all cleaned and put back together there was no spark. If I hook up a test light to one of the wires going to the coil the light lights when rolling over. It will arc when I touch it 1 time after the key has been on. Shut the key off and back on it will arc again.
I dont have a manual for it to find the correct readings.

Do you have the electric start or at least a battery for accessories?

Was the old flywheel identical and were the CID boxes from identical running machines?

Lastly, did you put a stator assembly in with the signal coil, or did you piece it together with an old signal coil?

Disconnect your positive cable from the battery and see if you get a spark by using the pull start.

Did you try disconnecting the rectifier between the stator and the rectifier?

As I asked earlier, What is the voltage going into the coil?? A CDI ignition requires some test equipment & the Manual to guide you thro it.. Have you tried the plug & the plug cap yet??? Sometimes the best bang for your buck is to thro the bike in a truck & take it to the dealer with the tools & manuals.. That way you'r not throwing parts @ it that aren't needed ....Just my thoughts,,,, Roger

I'm glad you got it fixed, and thank you for the update. It's good to know how things turn out.
