1984 Columbia gas golf cart

I have a 1984 Columbia Par Car that I am having trouble with. Can anyone tell me why I would have a good hot spark until I screw the plug into the cylinder head? I can see the fire when I ground the plug and I can see a bit of spark at the points. As soon as I install the plug in the cylinder I no longer have fire. Any suggestions?

I figured it out in case anyone is interested. It was the points. Cleaned the points plate and points real good and reinstalled. It now runs.

good to hear. if it happens again, you might want to invest $10 in an electronic ignition chip that replaces points and condenser. much more reliable, and in most cases, they perform much better.
