Twister 150

We have a twister 150 go cart that keeps having issues with the fuel. At first i could put duct tape over air intake tube and cut a slit in it and it ran fine. eventually it got worse and after cleaning the carb numerous times the local shop said to replace the carb for 89.00. That worked for about 8 months then same thing. The symptoms are it starts but soon as you hit gas it bogs and stalls. Any ideas? I know these are essentially chinese throw aways but i paid over three grand about 5 years ago and hate to give up or keep buying carbs if there is a fix out there.

It sounds like a carburetor problem. Do you have a fuel filter? If not I would get the carb disassembled & thoroughly cleaned and install a fuel filter to help prevent more problems in the future.

Another option is to install a aftermarket carburetor like a Tillotson.

From what I have read, the air filter is not a good fit and allows dirt to pass and get into the carb. Also, the electric choke sometimes sticks on and could also contribute to the bog down on acceleration.
