John Deere STX38 starting trouble
Let me start off by saying that I'm not an idiot, but I am certainly no small engine mechanic, so please tailor your advice with that in mind. My deere has been having trouble starting for awhile now, and sometimes it will stall halfway through doing the lawn, and then it will start back up in a few minutes. Now i can't get it started at all. It is turning over, but just not firing. Where should I start? Please help. Thanks

Start by rebuilding the carburetor.
Do not play around and blow some air in it !
Ethanol has been destroying carburetors and fuel lines for years.
Try to find a place that sells nonethanol fuel or start using an additive that counter acts the effects of it.

It is possible that you have a bad coil. Sometimes coils fail when they get good and hot but will work once they've cooled. Eventually it totally dies but sometimes there is a period where it will work when it's cool.
