2004 Club Car

I have a 2004 Club Car IQ recently purchased. I need assistance on braking. I recently hired an EZGO cart and it had motor braking inso much that it was not necessary to brake much downhill. I don't know if the Club Car does the same but my one does not appear to. When downhill I have to use the brakes as there is no motor braking. I wonder if someone can help me in this regard.
Does the car have motor braking and if so how is it controlled ?
I have read the user manual and am a little confused.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Graham

I think most Club Cars after the mid/late 90's had some form of dynamic braking. I think your cart uses a shunt wound motor that is matched to the controller. It's a more complex and difficult system to maintain and there is not much that is readily DIY fixable. If you've lost the regenerative/dynamic braking I'd suspect a problem with the controller but the motors are not as reliable as series wound ones. If you don't already have it getting back your dynamic braking is probably more money than you want to spend. I would just run the cart until it dies and rely on the mechanical brakes.
