What type of alloy?

1979 honda cb650 sprocket is being used on a go kart and I'm wondering if anyone knows what its made out of? The hub I ordered is cast and is weldable but how can I tell if the sprocket is weldable without ruining it?

Chances are it's steel, a high grade to take the stresses, a magnet will confirm!

The sprocket material is C45 Carbon Steel.
C45 is a medium carbon steel grade offering reasonable tensile strength.

Thanks everyone!

side note, is there a way to thank the thread and close it or is that a mod only option?

Threads aren't closed here unless dredged up from the past.
If you request it to be closed.... that would be a moderators job.
