Low compression causes

Have a 2 stroke ATV and I just had the cylinder rebored and a new piston and rings. I was very careful to install the cylinder so the rings didn’t move off their pins. I also checked the ring gap before i assembled and all was well within spec.

I’m pulling using pull cord and I’m only getting around 80psi most of the pulls. One or two pulls I got close to 100. Spec on my 1986 Polaris trail psi.

Is this because I’m a weakling and not pulling hard enough? Or could it be something in the bottom end? I am no expert but though a compression test from the spark plug only checks pressure of the head section.

Any suggestions what to look for next?

Likely the rings just haven't seated in yet. If it runs give it a little time.
