electric club cart runs slow.

48 Volt (four twelve volt batteries good) all electrical connections throughout cart clean and snug. Takes off quick but tops out slow... about the same as reverse speed.

How old are your batteries?

How did you determine that they are good?

My first thought is also the batteries. They may show the correct voltage on them but when you put a load on them they may drop too much voltage.

I agree completely, batteries are usually the culprit a lot of the time. You need to use a load tester, because as mentioned before a meter will trick a lot of people. a 1 volt drop from 12v is ok but lower is not great. I would stick with highest quality you can get like trojan for example. The other downside is your system is 4x 12v batteries....6x 8 volts is much more efficient. you could possibly find a conversion tray for your cart if it exists to convert to 8v batteries also
