Hi A friend of mine told that if I took my muffler off and put and elbow on frist then the muffler on pointing up or side ways it would not be a loud as it is now coming stright out is this true if so please how should I do this please help.

I guess it could help direct the noise away from you. I would not direct it upwards though, because any rain, dirt, etc...will go down into the muffler and into the cylinder. Just get a metal threaded pipe elbow (standard pipe thread) in the size you need, and a short threaded section on pipe. Screw the short piece in, add the elbow, then screw in the muffler.
