ID Wards rider

Just acquired a Wards "thirty two" rider that will require parts for the unit and possibly for the engine.
Would like to get info on the mfg of the unit and engine.
Mod # ZYJ 1894B
Ser # 07x 5506
The unit has seen some rough use but I Have no idea as to it's age.

Gordo,
You can go to www.briggsandstratton.com and click on the link "my engine information" and register. There is a lot of useful in the various links. Then go to http://shop.briggsandstratton.com/BS...B5155&MSCSSID= and type in your model number and type number (the first four digits). Then click on the link "view free PDF". You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader (if you don't have it there is a free download available). This will take you to a free download of a file that contains a lot of exploded views and parts lists. Be careful when looking up parts (you wll need your type number and code number). Hope this will be of some help.

Gordo,
There is some basic information you can obtain from the model number:

17 cubic inch
Vertical shaft
Flo-jet carburetor
Pheumatic or mechanical governor
Plain bearing / DU
Electric start with alternator

Thanks for the help, but I struck out. I'm using a Web tv and not a computer.
Apparently I can't access the B/S site. Something to do with the browser.
I do apprecate your effort....thanks again!

Gordo,
I was recently informed that Ward was bought out by MTD (it may not be written in stone). I looked up their web site and put in your Model & serial numbers, but to no avail. They also posted a phone number that may be worth a try, it's 1-800-269-6215.

I doubt strongly that the mower was made by Wards. Most of these companies have another one to make it for them and then slap their labels on it. The mower could be an MTD, Murry, AYP, Noma (bought by AYP). You might want to try some of the manufacturers customer service lines to see if the recognize the model number. Off hand it doesn't sound like an MTD modle number.
