Lawn Tractor will not move

Hello,

I have a yard machine (MTD) riding lawn tractor. I went to mow my lawn and it wouldn't move....It has a 7 speed clutch-less transmission and is 14.5hp. All i hear when i put it in gear is a grinding sound ,seemingly, coming from under the shift lever. When i look down through the shift lever race i can see a pully vibrating to and fro when the grinding noise is present.

HELP!!!!!!
John

Hello JBrunelle!

That mower has two motion drive belts. One goes to a varidrive pulley onder the plate that your gear shifter is in. The other goes from that pulley to the transaxle. Check to be sure that both belts are on. If so, check the transaxle pulley. Does it turn when the clutch is released? If so, and you still aren't moving, then either the pulley has come loose from the tranny input shaft, or you have an internal tranny problem.

Let us know what you find!
