string trimmer problems

I have a homelite string trimmer and a peice of the round alluminum tube that encloses the drive shaft broke off. It was about an inch long. I got it out of the trimmer and squared up the end but know i cant get anything on it because the hole is broke in half and there is a plug in the end so i cant push it up. What should i do?? Thank you

Hello Butterfingers!

Most small engine repair shops will have a junkpile of broken trimmers. Try to find one with a shaft like yours and replace the whole shaft. It should be cheap, and easy. Let us know how it goes!
