Hello lawpressman, all you need do is run a gas line to it and hit it with a battery. The tricky part will be stopping it ...:-)....Ground the black jumper cable to a good ground on the engine and touch the hot where the hot wire goes on the starter. To stop the engine you could choke to death or put a tie on each plug wire and pull them off......Mike

My Two Cents Worth

Hello and Welcome Larry Wood to our Do-It-Yourself Web Site and our Small Engine forum.

You just got some good advice from Mike.

The engine should start up fine.

Better have that engine bolted down and to a solid heavy duty work bench...

And there you have it..."My Two Cents"...

kohler no spark

Well thanks guy's but I tried just turning the engine over and it spins well but no spark? I think it has a CDI on it and I should hook up a 12volt supply to make it fire. all i have is a square plug with four wires on it, coming out of the engine and no wires on the starter, I clamped the - jumper cable to the block and the + to the starter post and it turns over but no spark. Do I need power on the plug?
Thanks

Got the Kohler running !!

Well I found out that the 22 HP Kohler motor just needed a 12 Volt wire hooked to the red wire coming from the engine. This turn on the CDI system and the fuel cut off sol. It started up and is running well.
Thanks for the HELP
