snowblower muffler

i have a 10hp 28" cut TTI snowblower, engine unknown. I recently took the muffler off because the baffling inside was all busted up. One of the bolts broke off in the block and i cannot remove it. The exhaust hole in the block is threaded. My question is, that if i put a screw type muffler in the that is meant for a lower hp engine(4 - 8hp) what will the repructions be?

Hello jasekase!

You might get away with no problems by doing this if you don't reduce the outlet size, but a muffler intended for a 10 or higher HP engine would be best. If the muffler doesn't allow exhaust to escape fast enough, you will lose some power.
