Dynamark 8-hp snowblower

Hello,

My Dynamark with an 8-hp Tecumseh won't start today. It ran well last week- I did run out of gas and refill, perhaps I pulled in some dirt to the filter.

How can I determine if its spark or fuel? I smell fuel- my initial thought was that I flooded it.

Thanks

Hello fdease!

Pull the spark plug. Place it so that it is in contact with metal on the equipment. Try to start the engine while watching the plug gap to see if it sparks. This will determine if you have ignition.

If you do, then drop several drops of gas into the plug hole and re-install the plug. Try to start it then. If it runs for a second or two and then quits, then you have carburetor problems. Remove the carburetor bowl and you will probably find trash and/or water in it. Clean it out and go!

Let us know how it goes!
