B&S 6.0 Sears Craftman Mower/Starting Problem

I changed the spark plug and put in clean fresh gas and my mower still won't start. My next step, I guess, should be to look at and clean the filter? Anything else that could cause this?

Any help and suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks.

Do you have spark? Is there fuel getting to the carb?

Squirt a little fuel into the spark plug hole. If it fires, runs for a few seconds and dies, a classic fuel problem.

Thanks, Joe_F, for your reply. I will go to the site you recommended. I'll save it.

Took top/cover off and cleaned up that area a bit (wasn't that dirty) and then used yet another spark plug.....Mover STARTED! I'm not sure which did it.

I hesitated lifting my hand off the bar for fear I might never get it started again, but the cover had to be put back on. After doing that...it started.

Again thanks.
